Exodus 13

And יהוה spake unto Moses (Mosheh), saying,

“Sanctify unto Me all the firstborn, whatsoever openeth the womb among the children of Yisrael, both of man and of beast: it is Mine.”

And Moses (Mosheh) said unto the people, “Remember this day, in which you came out from Egypt (Mitsrayim), out of the house of bondage, for by strength of hand יהוה brought you out from this place; there shall no leavened bread be eaten.

This day came you out in the month Aviv.

And it shall be when יהוה shall bring you into the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites (Yevusi), which He sware unto your fathers to give you, a land flowing with milk and honey, that you shalt keep this service in this month.

Seven days you shalt eat unleavened bread, and in the seventh day shall be a feast to יהוה.

Unleavened bread shall be eaten seven days; and there shall no leavened bread be seen with you, neither shall there be leaven seen with you in all your quarters.

And you shalt shew your son in that day, saying, ‘This is done because of that which יהוה did unto me when I came forth out of Egypt (Mitsrayim).’

And it shall be for a sign unto you upon your hand, and for a memorial between your eyes, that יהוה’s 28aTorah may be in your mouth; for with a strong hand hath יהוה brought you out of Egypt (Mitsrayim).

You shalt therefore keep this ordinance in its season from year to year.

And it shall be when יהוה shall bring you into the land of the Canaanites, as He sware unto you and to your fathers, and shall give it you,

That you shalt set apart unto יהוה all that openeth the matrix, and every firstling that cometh of a beast which you have; the males shall be יהוה’s.

And every firstling of an ass you shalt redeem with a lamb; and if you wilt not redeem it, then you shalt break his neck; and all the firstborn of man among your children shalt you redeem.

And it shall be when your son asketh you in time to come, saying, ‘What is this?’ that you shalt say unto him, ‘By strength of hand יהוה brought us out from Egypt (Mitsrayim), from the house of bondage.

And it came to pass, when Pharaoh (Paroh) would hardly let us go, that יהוה slew all the firstborn in the land of Egypt (Mitsrayim), both the firstborn of man, and the firstborn of beast; therefore I sacrifice to יהוה all that openeth the matrix, being males; but all the firstborn of my children I redeem.’

And it shall be for a token upon your hand, and for frontlets between your eyes; for by strength of hand יהוה brought us forth out of Egypt (Mitsrayim).

And it came to pass, when Pharaoh (Paroh) had let the people go, that God (Elohim) led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God (Elohim) said, “Lest perhaps the people regret when they see war, and they return to Egypt (Mitsrayim).”

But God (Elohim) led the people about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red sea; and the children of Yisrael went up harnessed out of the land of Egypt (Mitsrayim).

And Moses (Mosheh) took the bones of Joseph (Yosef) with him: for he had straitly sworn the children of Yisrael, saying, “God (Elohim) will surely visit you; and you shall carry up my bones away hence with you.”

And they took their journey from Sukkoth, and encamped in Etham, in the edge of the wilderness.

And יהוה went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night.

He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.
